Lifelong Learning lectures resume in October
Back by popular demand is another series of six free Lifelong Learning lectures at the library on Saturdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. starting on October 4. Mark your calendars for these interesting presentations that have been arranged by Pagosa residents Patsy Lindblad and Pam Kircher, who have taken over from Biz Greene, the program’s creator and organizer. This selection of fine speakers and wide-ranging topics takes our library’s Lifelong Learning lectures to new heights:
October 4: “They take our jobs: Looking backward at contemporary immigration debates in the U.S.” by Dr. John Baranski, associate professor of history at Fort Lewis College.
October 11: “Lost cities: Petra, Machu Picchu, Mesa Verde plus a mystery city” by journalist and biographer Judith Reynolds.
October 18: “ China: How does China’s emerging economic power impact the world economy?” by Ali Sabeti, retired senior staff of the World Bank Group.
October 25: “Tapping your potential: Talents to strengths to success” by Barbara Conkey, Talent-to-Strengths coach.
November 1: “Musically speaking: Where giants dare to tread” by Arthur Post, artistic director and conductor of the San Juan Symphony.
November 8: “Living responsibly: Saving the environment while saving money” by Denise Rue-Pastin, chair of the Southwest Organization for Sustainability.
Lifelong Learning events are free to the public. They take place in the library at 3 p.m. on Saturdays. These events help keep your mind agile and your life interesting. We hope to see you there.
